Writing History on Chain: Announcing SIMULACRA: Genesis

When I was 14, I ran a private server for Ragnarok Online. Along with my brother, we spent countless hours writing custom quests, designing economies, and watching players build alliances and wage wars. We were creating a world, and its history was written in the daily dramas of its community. But when the server eventually went offline, that entire history vanished. All those stories, those player-forged empires, were gone.

That experience planted a question in my mind that has guided my work ever since: What if the history we build in digital worlds could be made permanent? What if our collective actions could create a foundation so real, it could be built upon for years to come?

For the past decade, I’ve been building tools and systems. Now, I’m returning to my roots to answer that question. I’m not just building a game; I’m building a universe with a two-part core principle: History is Written, then Lived.

Today, I’m announcing the first part of that vision.

Introducing SIMULACRA: Genesis, the History Engine.

Genesis: A Game About Influence

At its surface, SIMULACRA: Genesis is a mobile-first, on-chain economic simulation. You play as an Anomaly, a ghost in the machine, a sentient force with the power to manipulate a vast digital world from a strategic level. You don’t control a single character; you command capital, information, and influence.

Your goal is to build an economic empire, outmaneuver rival Anomalies, and achieve the highest Reputation Score.

The core loop is an addictive cycle of strategy and growth:

  1. Establish: You begin by founding businesses in AI-governed city-states, creating passive income streams that work for you 24/7.
  2. Speculate: You trade unique, city-specific currencies on a dynamic, open market, exploiting arbitrage opportunities created by world events.
  3. Dominate: You fund spy networks, vote on global policies, and discover rare Industrial Blueprints to construct elite-tier operations, creating a tangible, player-driven production economy.

All of this is overseen by The Demiurge, an AI Dungeon Master that analyzes the world state and triggers narrative arcs: from market-shaking Degen Bubbles to world-altering Climate Collapses, to ensure the simulation is always dramatic, challenging, and alive.

But Genesis is more than just a strategy game. Its true purpose is to produce something of permanent value.

The Simulacrum: Your Legacy, Immortalized

Every action taken in Genesis, every business built, every treaty signed, every city founded, contributes to a permanent, on-chain historical record called The Simulacrum.

At the end of each multi-month Chronicle (our version of a season), the complete state of the world, its map, its political alliances, the legendary achievements of its players, is recorded and made permanent on the Base blockchain using the Ethereum Attestation Service (EAS).

This is the core of the vision. Your victories in Genesis won’t just earn you a spot on a temporary leaderboard. You will be writing the canonical, immutable history of a universe. The Player Accolades you earn for legendary feats will be a permanent part of your on-chain identity. The kingdoms you found will have their existence attested to forever.

We are building a History Engine. The output is a rich, detailed, player-authored world history, ready for its next chapter.

And one day, you’ll be able to live in it.

The long-term vision for the SIMULACRA franchise is a second, connected experience: a personal, micro-scale RPG where you can explore the very world whose history you helped write. The cities that rise and fall in Genesis will become the explorable zones of the future. The legendary players of Genesis will have monuments built in their honor.

Why This Matters Now

To realize this dream, we must first build a world worth living in. That is the mission of SIMULACRA: Genesis. It is a standalone, compelling, and deep strategy game designed to be profitable and fun on its own merits, while serving a grander purpose.

We’re building it with a “Minikit” philosophy on Base, ensuring a seamless, mobile-first experience with no gas fees or wallet pop-ups for core actions, thanks to account abstraction. This is on-chain strategy without the friction.

Become a Founding Anomaly

The first Chronicle of history is yet to be written, and I’m looking for its authors. I’m opening up a private alpha for strategists, builders, and thinkers who want to help shape the foundations of this universe.

Visit simulacraverse.com to join the Alpha.

This is more than an invitation to play a game. It’s an invitation to be a founder. To make your mark on a world, and to have that mark last forever.

Let’s write history together.

Appendix: Deeper Dive into the Genesis Engine

For those who want to see the blueprints, here are some core concepts from the design document.

  • The Demiurge: A meta-AI that acts as a “drama engine,” triggering over a dozen unique narrative arcs like the AI Arms Race, Corporate Coups, and Technological Renaissances to keep the world balanced and unpredictable.
  • The Production Economy: Beyond trading currencies, players can discover and trade rare Industrial Blueprint (ERC-1155) and Specialist (ERC-721) NFTs. These are tangible assets required for high-level progression, forming a true player-driven market for industrial and intellectual capital.
  • Dynamic Territorial Expansion: The world map is not static. Using rare Sovereign Claim NFTs, player factions can found their own settlements, grow them through stages of development, and eventually graduate them into new, fully-fledged cities on the world map, forever earning the on-chain attestation of “The Founder.”
  • True Persistence: The world of Genesis is never reset. Each Chronicle builds upon the last. The political and geographical state at the end of Chronicle 1 becomes the starting point for Chronicle 2, creating a continuous, unbroken history.
